Colors
Overview
Colors are optional product attributes used to describe and organize products. When color tracking is enabled, colors can be assigned to products, shown in the Products list, used in product search, and updated through product bulk actions.
Use this page to manage the color codes and color names available to product records.
Accessing Colors
Open Products Setup -> Colors.
The Colors menu item appears only when color tracking is enabled and the user has permission to access product colors.
Colors List
The Colors page shows all configured colors in a table.
The list includes:
- Color ID
- Color code
- Color name
- Action buttons
The table supports the standard list tools, including sorting and search.
Action buttons depend on user permissions. Users may see buttons for editing or deleting colors.
Adding a Color
Click the plus button in the actions column to open the Add New Color modal.
The add form includes:
- Code: required. This is the stored color code.
- Name: required. This is the display name users see when selecting or viewing colors.
Click Add to create the color.
Color codes must be unique. If the same code already exists, the system shows an error and does not create a duplicate.
Editing a Color
Click the pencil button beside a color to open the edit modal.
Editable fields include:
- Color code
- Color name
Click Update to save changes.
The default nocolor color cannot be edited.
Deleting a Color
Click the trash button beside a color to open the delete confirmation modal.
Some colors cannot be deleted:
- Imported colors show a disabled delete button.
- The default
nocolorcolor cannot be deleted.
If deletion is allowed, confirm the delete modal to remove the color.
There is no active enable or disable status control for colors. Colors are either present in the list or deleted, except for protected default or imported colors.
Where Colors Are Used
Colors are used in Products when color tracking is enabled.
Colors appear in:
- Product creation
- Product editing
- Products list columns
- Products list search and filtering
- Product detail view
- Bulk color update from the Products list
- Product labels and reports where product color is displayed
- E-commerce product data where color is used as a tag or variant-related value
When adding or editing a product, the color field uses the color list from this page.
If a product is saved without a color, the system can store the default nocolor value.
- Creating a color code that already exists.
- Changing a color code without checking which products already use it.
- Trying to edit or delete the default
nocolorvalue. - Trying to delete an imported color.
- Expecting the Colors menu to appear when color tracking is disabled.
- Expecting an enable or disable toggle; the active UI does not include one.
